Community Actions Treks is a company founded by Doug Scott CBE. CAT provide unforgettable adventures in Nepal, as well as Bhutan, India and Tibet. By trekking with CAT you can be sure that your trip is sustainable, ethical and gives back to the communities in the Nepalese Himalaya.

Treks are flexible enough to accommodate the needs and budgets of both small groups and larger teams of trekkers, including schools, universities, hiking clubs and charity teams.

The directors and shareholders have declined to participate in profit sharing for many years. Instead they have agreed that CAT should do what it can to support the work of Community Action Nepal. A large proportion of the surplus funds each year are donated to support our work in the high Himalaya, with the small remainder of the profits being invested back into the business to help them continually improve services.

Doug wanted to ensure that people, who had supported him on his mountaineering expeditions and continued to be employed in the trekking industry, could enjoy fair wages and working conditions – this was a prime reason for establishing CAT in the first place. By employing teams directly in Nepal they offer a decent wage and make sure that staff are properly clothed and fed whilst on trek. They also source supplies locally and employ local porters in order to benefit, economically, the regions through which they trek.
Some of CAT's treks pass Community Action Nepal projects in the beautiful Manaslu region. Trekking around the Manaslu Circuit in a clockwise direction, you will pass through CAN projects in the Nubri Valley.
The Tsum Valley is another beautiful and culturally rich valley forking east off the Manaslu Circuit and, like the Nubri Valley, it borders Tibet.
It is also possible to combine both treks in one trip.
