National Garden Scheme Stewart Hill Cottage Sunday 11th July 2010

Doug and Trish Scott  generously opened their garden to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) on Sunday 11 July 2010.

Every year the NGS welcomes more than half a million visitors to private gardens and raises more than £2million for nursing, caring and gardening charities. The Garden Open Day at Stewart Hill raised CAN funds by selling a variety of plants and Nepalese goods  to help run our health posts and nursing teams in Nepal. In total the event raised more than £1000 for various charities.

Trish and Doug's half acre garden is in the early stage of development. Over the past 5 years the former farmland has been transformed with a wonderful array of flower beds, walled kitchen garden with organic vegetables and seating areas all set beneath the splendid back drop of Carrock Fell.

The National Garden Scheme was founded in 1927, raising money for charity and opening up beautiful gardens at 'a shilling a head'.

Doug and Trish would like to thank all their friends, family and CAN volunteers who helped  make the day such a success. From those who made the delicious teas and cakes, to those who ran the stalls and helped with car parking -  many thanks!
